Butkiewicz was interviewed on Episode 259 on Bernadine Cruz's The Pet Doctor show on Pet Life Radio (link). According to the summary, she originally worked in small animal practice before becoming interested in epidemiology as a result of studying Valley Fever. She went back to school to receive a graduate degree in public health.
The University of Arizona Valley Fever Center for Excellence lists Butkiewicz as an Associate Research Scientist. In addition to her veterinary degree and her master's degree in public health, it also lists her as holding a master's degree in library science (link).
She's also listed as a Valley Fever specialist with Tucson Veterinary Specialists (link). Also listed at the facility is veterinary neurologist Cody Alcott, at one time the responsible veterinarian for the Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson; he was a respondent in at least two complaints we have on file, and VSCOT itself was the subject of around a dozen.
